Talk to a Career Counselor

Whether you know exactly what you want to do with your life or have no idea what the future holds, one-on-one career counseling is a valuable resource to help you reach your career goals. Career counselors can help you sort through the vast amount of information available to you and answer your individual career related questions about things such as your self-assessment results, your resume and cover letter, your upcoming interview, your job or internship search strategy or your career plan.

We are happy to see any and all students. If you don’t know where to start or feel like you already have a plan, we can help you determine your next steps. Feel free to bring a draft of your resume, your Focus 2 results and/or thoughts on jobs or careers that have interested you in the past to help start your first appointment. After your 45 minute career counseling appointment you will have:

  • An action plan and clarity about your next steps. (Please wait to fill out your personalized action plan during an appointment with a career counselor.)
  • A list of resources specific to your direction

The Career Education and Counseling team will also be offering student walk-in hours this spring. They are scheduled for 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM Monday through Thursday and will begin on January 16th with no hours on January 21,  March 11 –  15, and March 29. Walk-in hours will end for the year on May 1st, the last day of classes. Students will meet with counselors for 15 minutes to discuss quick issues or pressing questions. Since this is not an hour long appointment, students may not be able to voice all of their needs.

To schedule an appointment with a career counselor, call 336.758.5902, stop by our office in Reynolda Room 230, or email us at careers@wfu.edu.

If you find that you can’t keep your appointment, please notify us by calling the office at  336.758.5902 so that we may free up the time for another student who needs to speak to a career counselor. If you are a no show for your appointment, keep the following policy in mind:

   * After 1 no-show, you must send a letter of apology to the affected counselor.

*After 2 no-shows, you will not be able to make another appointment during this academic year, however you may utilize the OPCD’s walk-in appointments and resume reviews only.

If you have been accepted into the Schools of Business, log into DeaconSource to schedule an appointment with a career advisor. The Schools of Business will be testing the online appointment system this semester for our office.
